Add glitter!
Particularly good around Christmas time, but just something as simple as adding a little glitter can inspire your pupils with their playdough play.
Eggs
Give your class egg boxes and they can make playdough eggs to fill them.
Bread - kneading
You could make dough with out-of-date flour, with some dried yeast in it and then your class can knead, smell, knock back and ‘bake’ their playdough bread. A brilliant reinforcement activity before or after making real bread.
Chocolate playdough
Make chocolate playdough for your class by adding a little cocoa powder - your class will love it! Provide them with the inner trays from boxes of chocolates, and cake wrappers etc. So that they can make chocolates and cakes!
Printing patterns
Provide the children with various items to print patterns into the playdough, such as lego, cars, stampers etc.
Birthday cakes
Provide cut straws or pipe cleaners (as candles) and ribbons and cake display trays for children to make birthday cakes.
Stone patterns
Provide stones, pebbles, buttons, shapes or sticks so that pupils can make patterns in the dough.
Necklaces
Provide string or wool that children can create little ‘beads’ and thread them to make necklaces.
